I was so honoured and thrilled to be presented with the Wigmore Medal this week, and particularly proud to receive the medal from His Royal Highness the Duke of Kent. John Gilhooly announced the anniversary season- 110 years since the Hall opened- and the artists appearing at Wigmore are among the greatest in the world; when one looks at the photographs and programmes around the walls it is awe-inspiring. So, to receive such an honour is overwhelming. I think there are many people who deserve it much more than I do but I shall hang on to it very tightly! The Wigmore is beloved of all chamber musicians and singers because of its intimacy and its acoustics, and because the artists are made so welcome by John Gilhooly and his great team. It is a kind of family, and for artists who spend their lives travelling from one concert hall to another in different countries, to be welcomed with tea and biscuits, hugs and smiles, and to feel wanted, is heartwarming and helps us to do our best. I feel very privileged to be part of the Wigmore family.  FL
