New Year Message 2010

Hello everyone!

So sorry that my messages are rather few and far between: I can't do Facebook and Twitter, so you get a message every month or so instead!
It is hard to believe that we have already arrived at 2010: it seems only yesterday that we were worrying about our computers surviving the shock of the new Millenium. My first message of this new year must be to tell everyone that rumours of my retirement are not being circulated by me! I keep being informed that my last concert is supposed to be in April 2010, but I have quite a few bookings in 2011 and I am still having a great time travelling around and singing- well, the singing is rather more fun than the travelling around. But, unless I fall under a bus or drive into a brick wall, I am aiming to keep going for a while yet.

The last few weeks have been pretty busy, with concerts in Brussels, Paris and Luxembourg. We did an Offenbach Opera- not quite 'La Belle Hélène'- with a terrific cast including Anne-Catherine Gillet and William Burden. I also gave a recital at the Opera Comique with the wonderful harpist Isabelle Moretti, based upon the repertoire on our new CD, 'Cantare'.
I was so lucky with all my journeys- no flight cancellations and no sticking in tunnels. Thank goodness I was travelling to Paris from Brussels rather than London for the Opera Comique recital- my train was three hours late but it could have been a lot worse!

I wish everyone a very happy, healthy and successful New Year. FL
